Who's counting?

My other half doesn't know it, but he also chose tonight's dinner. When he picked 6 yesterday, I took the sixth card out of the dessert pile AND the sixth card from the dinner pile.

The sixth card in the dinner pile was...

"Italian Sausage Soup" (6 quart pot)

Meatballs:

~1 lb mild italian sausage
~1/2 c breadcrumbs
~1/4 c grated Parmesan cheese
~1/4 c milk
~1 egg
~1/2 t dried basil
~1/2 t black pepper
~1/4 t garlic salt

Soup:

~4 c hot chicken broth
~1 T tomato paste
~1 cove garlic, minced
~1/4 t red pepper flakes
~1/2 c mini pasta shells, uncooked
~1 (10 oz) bag baby spinach leaves
~grated Parmesan cheese

Combine all meatball ingredients.
Form into marble-size balls.
Combine broth, tomato paste, garlic, and red pepper flakes in crock pot.
Add meatballs.
Cover and cook on low for 6 hours.
30 minutes before serving, add pasta.
Replace cover.
Before serving, addd spinach and stir until wilted.
Ladle into bowls and top with Parmesan.

6 servings.

Make this. Tomorrow. I think it's my favorite Italian sausage recipe so far. It's only my third(?) ever, but still. It's delicious.
