Tasty failures.

"Citrus Glazed Chicken" (6 quart pot)

~4 boneless, skinless chicken boobs
~1/3 cup oj
~3 T brown sugar
~1/8 t salt

Place chicken in greased crock pot.
Pour oj over chicken.
Sprinkle brown sugar and salt over top.
Cover and cook on low for 8 hours.

4 servings.

This was good. Not great. It certainly tastes better than it looks. It would've been better if I had actually followed the recipe completely. The original recipe said to remove the chicken and then boil the liquid remnants and add cornstarch to make a gravy. This extra step would've even kept me in my 5 ingredient rule, but I had to rush at the end and I didn't get it done. I'll definitely try this again, but next time I'll have to be sure to follow the directions completely. And maybe shave off an hour or so (the recipe said to cook it for 6-9 hours) if I buy thin boobs like I did this time...I think it was a smidge overcooked.

"Strawberry-Walnut Delight" (3.5 quart pot)

~2 cans strawberry pie filling
~1/2 cup butter, melted
~box of yellow cake mix
~2/3 cup chopped walnuts
Pour 2 cans of strawberry pie filling into greased crock pot.
Mix butter and cake mix. (It will be crumbly.)
Pour cake mixture on top.
Sprinkle walnuts on top.

Cover an cook on low for 4 hours.

6 servings.

Notice it doesn't say invert anywhere in the recipe. I failed to do that. I suppose you're just supposed to scoop it out. That kind of makes sense because it's not a cake even though it has cake mix in it. Right? Right. Luckily, this fail didn't change the taste of it. It was still delicious. Super sweet. It made me want some REAL strawberries. Ripe ones that are in season...Is it June yet? Yum.
