Shh...We're hunting vampires.

You may have noticed that we love garlic. We also love to travel. Several of our friends had raved about a restaurant in California called The Stinking Rose for years and we said that if we were ever in San Francisco (or Beverly Hills), we would check it out. About two years ago, we finally found ourselves in San Francisco and ate there during one of our nights in town. Looking at their menu again, I'm pretty sure I ordered their 40 Clove Garlic Chicken. I was super excited to find this recipe on the gluten free crocker's website. I HAD to try it. She used drumsticks. I didn't. She also used fewer cloves. I didn't.

"40 Clove Garlic Chicken"

~3 chicken breasts
~1 large onion, sliced
~1 T olive oil
~2 t salt
~2 t paprika
~1 t pepper
~40 cloves of garlic, peeled

Place onion in greased crock pot.
Mix all other ingredients in a medium bowl and pour into crock pot.
Cover and cook on low for 7 hours.

I served it with garlic mashed potatoes because that's what they do.
Obviously, you have to be a fan of garlic to even THINK about making this. After 2 hours of cooking, my eyes were burning from all of the garlic aroma wafting though the house. So. Much. Garlic. But it was so good. My other half thinks that it was a bit dry, so maybe next time, I'll do it for 6 hours instead of 7.

Of course, after we consumed everything, I found that The Stinking Rose actually HAS their recipe for 40 Clove Garlic Chicken on-line. D'oh. Next time...

  2. yumm-o! This is one of our family favorite recipes, too. I always joke that my hubby even eats garlic on his french toast (he doesn't, but it wouldn't surprise me). :)
