Kids love mac and cheese.
I love my mom's mac and cheese. She uses a different combination of cheeses every.single.time and it's delicious every.single.time. I searched and searched and searched for a crocked mac and cheese recipe that had breadcrumbs on top like hers. Eventually, I found this and decided that I HAD to make it. It's been on my list of things to crock for about a month or so. Unfortunately, I forgot to write down where this recipe came from. Grr.
"Macaroni and Cheese" (6 quart pot)
~2 c shredded cheddar (I used one cup sharp and one cup mild)
~2 c milk
~1 8 oz package of Philly cream cheese
~1/4 c butter, melted
~3 T flour
~1/2 t salt
~1/2 t pepper
~2 T Gulden's mustard
Mix all ingredients in greased crock pot.
Topping:
~1 cup breadcrumbs
~2 T butter, melted
Mix all ingredients in a small bowl.
Sprinkle over macaroni mixture.
Cover and cook on low for 3 hours.
6 servings.
6 servings.
Wow. This might be better than my mom's recipe. I wanted to eat it all.
Friday afternoon, I was sitting here trying to think of a dessert kids love. That's precisely when The Crockpot Recipe Exchange posted this. Is that perfect timing or what?
S'mores (6 quart pot)
~The ingredients for s'mores.
Preheat on high uncovered for 10 minutes.
Put together a lidless s'more.
Place lidless s'more in crock pot.
Cover and cook on high for 20 minutes.
Carefully remove lidless s'more from crock pot.
Add the lid and press.
They were s'mores. Crocked. Mmm...
How many servings does the Mac and cheese make(got to feed 2 adults and 4 kiddie) ? Do you think it could be doubled in the 6-quart pot? And is the texture and taste creamy with the cream cheese like the kraft deluxe box type? Got behind to reading your blog and I'm catching up! :)
ReplyDelete6, probably. Maybe more. It made a lot, but I guess it depends on how much your kiddos eat. It could totally be doubled. There was lots of room left in the pot. I don't know if I've ever had kraft deluxe... I know I've had the regular blue box mac n cheese, though and it's a different kind of creamy. :)
