Back to school.

"Fall Harvest Chowder" (6 quart pot)

~3/4 lb ground beef, browned and drained
~1/2 c onion, chopped
~4 c water
~1 c diced carrots
~1 c diced celery
~1 c potatoes, cubed
~1 can (28 oz) diced tomatoes
~1 can (8oz) tomato puree
~1 t salt
~1/4 t pepper
~1/4 t crushed bay leaves
~1 1/2 t Italian seasoning

Combine all ingredients in crock pot.
Cover and cook on low for 10 hours.

8 servings.

This stew chowder was good. It was like beef stew, but with ground beef instead of cubed beef. This, of course, begs the question: How is a chowder different from a stew, exactly? Because I have no idea.

  1. How many servings? Enough for a family of 5?
