I must've been feeling particularly adventurous the last time I went grocery shopping because I also grabbed 2 cornish game hens. I think these were on my "never had before" list, but I was pretty sure it was going to taste like chicken. I didn't know what I was going to do with them once I got them home, so I asked my friend Google to help me out...and then I improvised. Because I can kind of do that with chicken.
"The Cornish Game Hen Experiment" (6 quart pot.) (Based in THIS recipe.)
~2 cornish game hens, patted dry
~5 small white potatoes, quartered
~2 garlic cloves, chopped (From the CSA.)
~1 onion, chopped (From the CSA.)
~1 T honey
~1/4 t tumeric
~1/2 t allspice
~1/4 t salt
~1/8 t cayenne pepper
~1 (14.5 oz) can roasted diced tomatoes with garlic
Place hens in crock pot.
Place potato, garlic, and onions around hens.
Drizzle honey on top.
Sprinkle spices on top.
Pour tomatoes over everything.
Cover and cook on low for 8 hours.
2 servings.
This was really good. REALLY good. Wanna know what would make it better? Using boneless chicken of some sort. Thighs, Boobs. Doesn't matter. The skin and bones made this really annoying to eat. It looks like a ginormous plate of food, but it's really not.
And yes, it tastes like chicken.
