Tricia picked number 54. (Thanks Tricia!) Card 54 was:
"Spicy Italian Beef on Rolls" (6 quart pot)
~2 lbs london broil (The card said beef sirloin tip roast, but I couldn't find any. I improvised.)
~1 (14 1/2 oz) can diced tomatoes, undrained
~1 green bell pepper, chopped
~1/2 c water
~1 T sesame seeds
~1 1/2 t garlic powder
~1 t fennel seed, crushed
~1/2 t salt
~1/2 t pepper
~1/2 t crushed red pepper
~cheesy kaiser rolls, split (The card says hard rolls...whatever that means.)
Place roast in crock pot.
In a bowl, combine tomatoes, green pepper, water and seasonings; pour over roast.
Cover and cook on low for 9 hours or until meat is tender.
Remove roast; cool slightly.
Skim fat from cooking juices; shred beef and return to crock pot.
Serve on rolls
8 servings. (According to the card. It was actually more like 4.)
London broil was probably not the right cut of beef to use (it was a little tough), but it worked. It wasn't super crazy spicy, but the flavor was yummy.
