Sarah picked number 8. AND she offerred to take yesterday's Kale Soup off of my hands (Thanks, Sarah!) The eighth card in the stack was...
"Three-Bean Turkey Chili" (6 quart pot)
~1 lb lean ground turkey
~1 onion, chopped
~1 (28 oz) cam diced tomatoes, undrained
~1 (15 oz) can chick peas/garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained
~1 (15 oz) can kidney beans, rinsed and undrained
~1 (15 oz) can black beans, rinsed and drained
~1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
~1 (4 oz) diced mild green chilies
~2 T chili powder
Cook and stir turkey and onion in a medium skillet over medium-high heat.
Drain and discard fat.
Transfer mixture to crock pot.
Add remaining ingredients and mix well.
Cover and cook on high for 6 hours.
6 servings.
This was probably the heaviest dinner yet, grocery-wise. So. Many. Cans. The variety of beans makes it all purdy-like and the lack of spices makes it, well, not spicy. The card said 1-2 T chili powder and I used a heavy-handed 2. It has a nice flavor, though, so if you're a "big wuss" when it comes to spices, knock yourself out. Or, you know...be careful, don't knock yourself out and INSTEAD, make this chili.
I'm here all week.
