Happy Crocksgiving!

As soon as the clock struck November, people started asking me if it was possible to crock a Thanksgiving turkey.

Yes, yes it is.

I crocked this last Tuesday since we had plans to drive to see our families in Philly Wednesday morning.

"Thanksgiving Turkey"

~1 whole 5lb turkey, defrosted and patted dry
~1 (14 oz) can chicken broth
~ 1 t poultry seasoning
~salt
~ground pepper

Dump chicken broth into crock pot.
Sprinkle salt and pepper inside and out of turkey.
Place turkey in crock pot.
Sprinkle poultry seasoning on top.
Cover and cook on high until thermometer reads 170 degrees. (This took 4 hours.)
Let sit for 15 minutes before carving.

6 servings.
This was yummy. It's a nice tender turkey that would be delicious with all of the "normal" Thanksgiving fixins  (I served mine with a sweet potato and cranberry sauce). Crocksgiving dinner is on my bucket list and it WILL happen someday. Because it CAN.

  1. Is that right? A whole turkey that only weighs 5 pounds? Where did you find it?

  2. I got this one at Safeway. It was just over 5 pounds...5 1/4, I think. I grabbed the smallest one I could find! :)
